Watte, Bart

Bart Watté was born in Gent (Belgium) in 1979. He studied clarinet with Eddy Vanoosthuyse in the “Lemmensinstituut” College of Music in Leuven and graduated with the highest distinctions for both his Master’s and Specialisation Degrees. He recieved masterclasses from Robert Spring, Luis Rossi, Howard Klug, Anthony Pay, Thomas Friedli and Wenzel Fuchs, and studied orchestral conducting with Edmond Saveniers and Nick Ost. Next to his main occupation as solo clarinetist in the world famous “Royal Band of the Belgian Guides”, he is a much appreciated chamber musician, guest soloist, freelancer and clinician. 

Bart Watté’s compositions, though originating in classical/romantic traditions, are influenced by an array of styles, from film music to folk and electronic music. He often finds inspiration in the sometimes tempestuous twists of the human psyche.
