Belgian composer, pianist and music teacher Raymond Decancq (°1935) studied piano and harmony in Roeselare and Gent. He started working  as a professional tailor, and played  the piano in entertainment orchestra’s, big bands and jazz combo’s. He was on tour in Africa (Congo) 1957-58, playing in quartet at the Sabena Guesthouses. In 1968 he turn fully to music as music teacher in several schools . It was only after his retirement in 1996, that Raymond Decancq could give all his energy and time to his compositions. Those past 20 years resulted in a long list of compositions for piano, chamber music ensembles, harmony orchestra and choral music. He wrote a couple of very successful ensemble works for wind instruments: A Playful Quartet”  recorded by 'The Brussels Saxophone Quartet', 'The Flemish Clarinet Quartet' and 'Vento do Norte' (Portugal). "Two Contrasts" recorded by 'Clarity Quartet' (Australia) etc....
